This is a quilt created by
Carmon starting with large unquilted blocks that had been stitched together by
Lillian "Kate" Ketcham Nagle (1860-1953) from Clarion, Iowa. She was the
grandmother of Carmon's design client, Ann Anselment of Golden, Colorado. They
had been stored in a trunk for many years. When gently washed, the water
actually turned brackish and took several washes to get them really cleaned.
Then some of the fabrics broke down and current compatible fabrics were
appliqued over the old. Many of the basting threads were left intact.
