This is
a wall quilt, about 5' x 7', commissioned by Graham and Jeanne Gibbard utilizing
the expensive and beautiful silk ties that Graham had worn over the years, many
depicting giraffes as a subject. Also included in the compilation were shirt
pockets and wool from his dad's shirt, honeymoon and wedding fabrics from
garments worn during those occasions, leather components of his suspenders, and
quilt remnants from their trunk that had never been actualized into a quilt.
Some sections are actually three dimensional quilt techniques and the surround
was all done in classic Scottish plaid from his wool ties.
